The spread of the Coronavirus has become a sad state for China, and affecting other countries across the globe, with over 7,818 cases confirmed globally (7,736 in China) and over 18 other countries confirming cases. The n-Cov Virus was first reported in the Wuhan area of China this with the whole city, a population of 11 million locked down. The spread of the virus is also affecting the mining operations in the country as hardware providers announce delays in completing their deliveries.
MicroBT, Innosilicon and Bitmain all announced delays in the past week of the application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). After the decision was passed by the Guangdong provincial government to extend the Chinese New Year holiday to Feb.9, due to the virus, MicroBT announced they will be delaying their orders citing transportation issues. The notice from the mining equipment manufacturer read,
“The production, delivery, after-sales service, and send and receive documents and other arrangements” would be delayed as a result.”
The delays are not expected to affect the mining hash rate of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies as suggested by some analysts. The virus is gradually becoming controlled and normal operations are expected to resume in coming days.
