Welcome to day two of CoinMarketCap’s first conference, The Capital. The sun is out in Singapore today and the air is hazy over the Marina Bay Sands.
As usual on the second day of any conference (at least in crypto), the (in our case, beautifully light, airy and white-columned) venue is sparsely populated at 9am. Presumably many attendees, nursing jetlag, went to bed a bit later than usual, maybe post a couple of Singapore Slings.
But day two of The Capital is not a day to sleep through — today’s speakers include NYSE owner Intercontinental Exchange’s (ICE) VP Asia Pacific Jennifer Ilkiw (you care because ICE created Bakkt, which launched physically delivered Bitcoin futures this fall); former SEC commissioner Paul Atkins (crypto’s favorite regulator) and Twitter Greater China regional director Alan Lan.
And that’s all before lunch.
The rest of the day will feature speakers such as cryptography pioneer, David Chaum, an unconference (that’s a panel without a moderator. Decentralization, folks!) on user privacy and fungibility and a keynote titled MimbleWimble, Grin and Gotts (fun).
If you couldn’t make it to sunny (actually, mostly cloudy) Singapore, watch the livestream of the conference here.
If you missed day one of The Capital, you can check out the top five highlights of the first day — plus our favorite quotes — here. Yesterday, we also talked to crypto bigwigs Changpeng “CZ” Zhao (Binance) and Jeremy Allaire (Circle) backstage at The Capital.
