Coinbase continues with its push to support features that will boost user experience and boost trading activities. The exchange has now announced the launch of a “Coinbase Pay” feature enabling users to use a Chrome browser extension to fund their Coinbase wallets.
Coinbase launches Coinbase PayThe Coinbase Pay feature was launched on March 16 to boost user interactions with decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and facilitate token swaps on decentralized exchanges (DEXs).
“Before Coinbase Pay, users who wanted to add funds to their Coinbase Wallet from the browser extension needed to navigate to Coinbase.com, sign in to their account, copy-paste their wallet address, and manually transfer funds from their Coinbase account. The process was not only cumbersome but also left the user vulnerable to user error,” the announcement said.
The Coinbase Pay feature is quite easy to use. One simply has to choose the currency they want to integrate into their Chrome wallet, choose the amount they want to spend, and then confirm the transaction.
Coinbase noted that the feature would allow users to transact through a single process without switching between different applications. Moreover, the Coinbase wallet will be independent, and a user does not have to use their Coinbase wallet.
However, without linking a Coinbase account, a user will not access the full features of Coinbase Pay. A user has to link their self-custody wallet to their Coinbase account before adopting Coinbase Pay to make fiat to crypto transactions.
Coinbase’s self-custodial wallet allows users to have full control of their cryptocurrencies. Despite being provided by a centralized cryptocurrency exchange, the self-custodial wallet allows users to store their private keys. In February, Coinbase wallet announced support for the Ledger hardware wallet.
Coinbase NFT projectBesides boosting its services in the crypto wallet services, Coinbase is also venturing into the non-fungible token (NFT) sector. The exchange announced the creation of the Coinbase NFT platform, which has 3.86 million wallet addresses on its waitlist. Coinbase stated that this NFT marketplace would be launched “soon” and that it was working with hundreds of NFT creators for this project.
