The Chinese government has recently released its third edition of its Cryptocurrency Rating Index. This latest edition lists the top 31 cryptocurrency projects to date, with EOS holding at number one followed by Ethereum at number 2. Top-ranked cryptocurrency Bitcoin found itself down in 16th position.
China’s Center for Information Industry Development (CCID) began its monthly cryptocurrency ratings index in May of 2018. The index breaks down each cryptocurrency project into three categories: technological capability, usefulness of application and innovation. EOS has held the number one spot for the last two months, however, its total score has dropped from 161.5 last month to 145.6.
Ethereum, which came in first during the May edition of the index, has continued to hold its second-place rating with a score of 137.3, followed by Nebulas at 108.8, GXChain at 108.3 and China’s NEO project in fourth place at 107.4. Ethereum has continued to improve from its first place 129.4 score in May, although it has not been enough to surpass EOS following the platform’s launch in June.
The world’s most popular cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has climbed up from 17th place last month to 16th in July. Bitcoin continues to hold one of the highest innovation scores but has consistently been given embarrassingly low scores in technology and application.
Other notable cryptocurrencies include Steem in 7th place, Ripple in 13th, and Monero in 22nd, with scores of 104.9, 96.6 and 82.6 respectively.
