The conference will take place on October 3 and 4, 2018 in Washington, D.C. The event is free and open to the public. If you’re not able to attend in person, a livestream will be available online.
FinTech Forward 2018 is being presented by the CFTC’s LabCFTC and Office of Customer Education and Outreach. The two-day conference will include domestic and international financial regulators, fintech innovators, and experts who will examine pressing topics in the fintech space today.
Topics discussed during the conference will include:
Emerging technology trends and developments Evolving tokenization Safeguarding digital assets Combatting fraud 21st century regulatory approaches and frameworks Global education efforts The future of “regtech”, compliance, and oversight The impact and transformative potential of artificial intelligence on financial marketsThe event will take place across a series of keynotes and panel discussions. However, the CFTC is also advertising the event as a place where industry leaders can network with one another:
“FinTech Forward 2018 is more than keynotes and panel discussions. It’s an opportunity for innovators and financial regulators to connect and exchange information.”
Overall, it’s always good news for the crypto industry when we see organizations like the CFTC embrace crypto. Bitcoin futures contracts are regulated assets in the American crypto space after being approved by the CFTC last year. Today, the CFTC clearly believes that cryptoassets are a big enough topic to be included at a broader fintech conference.
