Calvin Ayre Claims Kraken Has Been Named in SEC Investigation
The controversy around the BCH hard fork appears to have engulfed Kraken, the crypto exchange. Proponents of the two BCH forks have taken aim at it. Once the BCH forked into the SV and ABC forks, Kraken decided that it would maintain the BCH ticker for ABC and credited users with SV tokens. At the same time, it warned users that it was a high-risk environment.
SV In TroubleSince its launch, the SV tokens have gone through a few bad days. This has led to claims that there is an overt centralization from some of the biggest names in the world of Bitcoin. Since trading began on Kraken, SV tokens have been selling at below $30.
Deposits and withdrawals will start today. They are subjected to 30 confirmations for SV and 15 for ABC. According to a tweet by Kraken, sending non-replay protected BSV tx or BCH to a Kraken address will lead to a credit of BCH and BSV if they both transferred by the tx.
SEC InvestigationCalvin Ayre decided to retaliate on Twitter after the announcement. He took aim at the choice to use the BCH ticker for ABC by Kraken. Besides that, he claimed that the SEC was investigating both of them.
Ayre said that he predicted the BCH shall remain as the Satoshi Vision and the ABC will die out as an outcome of the hash war. He added that US authorities were carrying out SEC and criminal investigations.
Ayre added that he knew this due to documents that had been leaked to him. Additionally, he said Kraken had been named. However, he did not offer any evidence to back his claims. He promised that the evidence would come out next week.
Kraken ResponseKraken has not publicly reacted to the claims. However, the statement by Ayre might end up being buried under all the rhetoric on social media. There has been a lot of back and forth on Twitter and other forums based on the hash wars and the BCH debacle that concluded last week.
Ayre claims that he will make the document release during a conference once they are made public. In his tweet, he claims that besides Kraken, Roger, Amaury, Jess Powell, and Jihan are also mentioned. He claimed that the investigation would make their lives quite interesting because they were being investigated for market manipulation and other things.
A Lot Of Noise From SVSources connected to SV have been quite vocal. The chief scientist at nChain and the self-proclaimed creator of BTC accused ABC’s lead personality of gross violations. Craig Wright told Roger Ver, the owner of Bitcoin.com that he was his enemy. This was in an email that was sent to Ver before the hard fork took place.
In the past 24 hours, the BCH has seen the largest drop in the value of all the top 20 crypto coins. It has managed to lose about 7.5% according to figures published on Coinmarketcap.
