The Brave Browser, launched by Mozilla co-founder, Brendan Eich, has reached a new milestone of 40 million downloads on Android.
The browser, which is also closely tied to the Basic Attention Token (BAT) project, has been on a string of positive milestones in the past 12 months, showing enormous growth.
Brave Keeps On WinningThe privacy-focused browser, Brave, has just hit a major milestone, achieving 40 million users on the Android platform alone. For some perspective, the Coinbase app has 20 million downloads.
Brave is a browser that blocks ads and trackers and has been a hit with the cryptocurrency community. The project’s associated token, the Basic Attention Token (BAT), has also made headway in recent months and can be used to tip publications, users, and content creators.
In July, the browser brought the BAT token’s advertising platform to mobile devices. The Brave Ads program, which was first offered to desktop users, rewards users with the BAT token for choosing to view advertisements. This option helps to preserve users’ privacy — a point which Brave adheres to strictly.
This is what could be contributing to the platform’s growth, as users have spoken positively of Brave’s policy on maintaining privacy. Numerous technology journals have also offered positive reviews on the browser.
Growing At a Rapid PaceThe Brave browser has consistently made headlines in the cryptocurrency space, as the browser has hit several major milestones that indicate its growth. The browser stepped out of its beta phase last November, launching Brave 1.0, a sign of the project’s strong development and acceptance.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Brave reached hit 20 million downloads on the Android platform, and the current jump to 40 million indicates that the browser is growing at an exponential rate. In about eight months, the browser has doubled the number of users on the Android platform. It is also the most downloaded Android browser in Japan.
The browser has already overtaken the Opera and Firefox browsers in terms of user numbers and was reported as having a user acquisition rate that is over double that of current market leader Google Chrome. The Brave browser comes built-in with a cryptocurrency wallet and features such benefits as being able to tip one’s favorite content creators.
