Brave, a privacy-focused and crypto-friendly browser, is now the top browser on the Google Play Store. Des Martin, Brave’s head of marketing unveiled this news on October 8, noting that the browser had made significant progress to reach the top position. Allegedly, the browser has a 4.8 rating with reviews from more than 238,000 users. Through this development, Brave has risen above popular browsers such as Microsoft’s Edge and Google’s Chrome, which previously held the top position.
Martin’s tweet read,
“Brave on Android is now the top-rated browser on the Play Store. Ahead of Chrome (4.1) Edge (4.5) DDG (4.7), Firefox (3.9) and others. Time to make the Switch!”

According to one of the browser’s users, it offers an excellent experience. The user went on to tout Brave’s fast and user-friendly interface, noting that it supports the seamless addition of extensions and that it does not have major compatibility issues.
Luring users with rewards and privacy featuresWhile Brave is fairly new in the browser industry, it has several features that are behind its rapid success. These include its privacy-by-design ads, which have attracted major brands such as Amazon, Lenovo, CBS, and Logitech among others. This is because the ads are supported in more than 183 countries across the globe. Additionally, they have a high click-through rate (CTR) at 9%, which towers the current 2% industry standard.
Apart from this, the browser’s privacy-centered design has attracted a wide following. In June this year, the browser announced that it had surpassed 15 million monthly users and 5 million daily users. Also, the browser’s reward system, which lets user reward their favorite verified content creators has seen it attract more than 700,000 creators on platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, and Twitter among others.
Brave’s speed has also contributed to its increased adoption. According to the browser’s operator,
“Brave provides substantial improvements in speed, privacy, security, performance, and battery life — typical page loads are 3x to 6x faster in Brave. Brave does this by blocking data-grabbing trackers and invasive ads.”
Brave continues striving to protect user dataIn the past week, Brave added another feature that helps boost its privacy. The firm added a Private Window with Tor, which helps shield users against internet service providers (ISPS). Through this addition, the browser now let its users access websites securely, contributing to the firm’s mission of blocking trackers and protecting user data.
