Bloq.com CEO Says That Bitcoin Is An Unquestionable Success When It Comes To Store Of Value
One of the earliest figures in the crypto community, Jeff Garzik was recently interviewed by Bloomberg in which he said that when it comes to being an agent for storing value, bitcoin has been an unquestionable success.
Jeff’s Journey To Bitcoin PioneerJeff Garzik is a futurist, entrepreneur and software engineer who is the co-founder and CEO of Bloq. He currently serves on the board of Coin Center, and the advisory board of BitFury, BitPay, Chain.com, Netki and WayPaver Labs. Jeff has a long history of early technology adoption. After helping to inaugurate CNN.com on the Internet in the early 1990s, he worked for a succession of Internet startups and service providers. At the same time, he worked continuously on open source software engineering projects for over two decades.
In July 2010, Jeff stumbled across a post describing bitcoin. Immediately recognizing the potential of a concept previously thought impossible — decentralized digital money, he did what came naturally: developed bitcoin open source software. That gave rise to the start of micro-businesses with bitcoin at their foundation. Almost by accident, Jeff found himself at the heart of the global, revolutionary, technology phenomenon known as bitcoin.
Key Contributor To Bitcoin’s CodeReportedly, Garzik was the third-biggest contributor to Bitcoin code. He said:
“It hasn’t evolved in the direction of high-volume payments, which is something we thought about in the very early days: getting merchants to accept Bitcoins. But on the store-of-value side, it’s unquestionably a success.”
Garzik has an interesting story to speculate who Satoshi Nakamoto is. In his opinion, the chief contenders for the title are Nick Szabo, Adam Back, and/or a group of people likely involving one or both of these people. He claims to have collaborated with Nakomoto via email before his much talked about the disappearance in 2011.
He says:
“My personal theory is that it’s Satoshi Nakamoto Floridian Dave Kleiman. It matches his coding style, this gentleman was self-taught. And the Bitcoin coder was someone who was very, very smart, but not a classically trained software engineer.”
