Cryptocurrency games have attained a lot of hype since the existence of CryptoKitties. While no other game has managed to top the kitties, it definitely served as a foundation to a whole new market. In most cases, crypto games have always been about acquiring collectibles – whether this is achieved through certain activities or simply by saving enough to purchase them. What fun is there if the brain isn’t given a lot of work? This is where Ether Kingdoms comes into play.
According to a Medium Post, the team at Ether Kingdoms prefer gamers use their skills when playing a game, as opposed to focusing solely on the notion of collecting collectibles. Why is that? Naturally, it makes sense, as it keeps gamers engaged and will prevent one from getting bored from it. Let’s take a closer look at the basics to see how skillful one must be.
Ether Kingdoms’ Overall ModelAccording to their Medium Post, every player has a Kingdom of their own with 25 mines (by level 25), where the game’s native token, IMP, will be mined. In order to get the mine working, players are required to send anywhere between 100 and 400 IMPs. The game can go up to level 100, that is, each mine has the potential to get upgraded to a maximum of four levels. In order to grow to reach level 100, players simply have to undergo battles with bots or other players.
As per the claims made, the team continued to develop the gameplay so that it becomes, “more complex, interesting and exciting.” In order to do so, they’ve supposedly introduced an ERC721-based token, which they deem as their artifacts that are used during battles to equip one’s IMPs.
Leaderboards have also been introduced which replicate airdrops. Also, to make things more interesting, they’ve introduced “Multiple Battle Functionality,” so that players can fight others without having to wait for a battle to be formed and “A Fight with Bosses Functionality”. The latter ensures there are bosses at each level that need to be fought in order to win prizes.
According to a CoinTelegraph post, which also covered Ether Kingdoms, 2019 will mark yet another new feature. In particular, “global game events for groups” are believed to be launched where players can establish clans and go into battle to obtain the rarest artifacts there is.
