Bitpoint Suffers $32 Million Hack

Japanese crypto exchange Bitpoint announced it has been hit by a major hack, with malicious actors stealing $32 million worth of five different cryptocurrencies. A majority of the stolen funds were taken from the platform's users, with just over a quarter of the amount stolen from the exchange itself.

Remixpoint Inc. , the parent company of BITPoint cryptocurrency exchange, which is one of the 16 licensed digital assets trading venues in Japan, has joined forces with Hinomaru Limousine Inc. , a local firm that claims to operate a fleet of 362 limos and 161 taxis, to make it possible for travelers to pay for airport rides with bitcoin, reported  Bloomberg on.

Tokyo has taken another step towards cryptocurrency “mass adoption,” and will be giving high-rollers another place to spend their hodlings. The Hinomaru Limousine company claims it will be giving passengers the opportunity to pay for their travel – between the Japanese capital and the city’s two major airports – in digital currencies, Bloomberg reports.

Japan’s Largest Crypto Exchanges to Face the Wrath of the FSA

Japan’s Financial Services Agency (FSA) will be taking administrative action against several registered cryptocurrency exchange operators in the country. These exchanges include Quoine, Bitbank, BITPoint Japan, BtcBox, and industry leader BitFlyer, who authorities claim don’t have proper internal management systems in place, including measures to prevent money laundering.
