Cryptocurrency is already working towards adoption, but one of the ways that these firms are gaining validity is by adding traditional finance executives to their ranks. That could be exactly why the BitFury Group has welcomed two new members to help with their strategy and growth.
In a move that was revealed directly to CoinDesk, the company announced the addition of Antoine Dresch and Annette Nazareth. Dresch formerly was an executive for several investment banks and co-founded Korelya Capital, but his new role will be with the board of directors for BitFury. Dresch has spent much of his career in investment banking since 1997, when he was the vice president of Goldman Sachs’. He has started a consulting firm and been involved with multiple tech startups. His role will BitFury will involve working with CEO Valery Vavilov, George Kikvadze, Bob Dykes, and Bill Tai.
In a press release, Vavilov said,
“Antoine’s years of experience in investment banking and mergers and acquisitions will be valuable assets as BitFury continues to grow. Annette will serve in a different capacity; as a trusted advisor, she will help guide and support BitFury by offering her comprehensive knowledge on financial markets and regulation.”
Nazareth, on the other hand, comes from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to work at the advisory board for BitFury. She has been with the SEC as a commissioner from 2005 to 2008, worked as a partner for a law firm for a decade, and she has advised Financial Institutions Group clients regarding regulatory issues.
The work that Nazareth performs with BitFury will involve regulatory progress and offering her expert knowledge of the financial market.
A representative for BitFury commented,
“She is an experienced financial markets regulator and recognized authority on regulatory issues. As SEC commissioner, she worked on numerous groundbreaking initiatives, including execution quality disclosure rules, implementation of equities decimal pricing, short sale reforms, corporate debt transparency rules and modernization of the national market system.”
Tomicah Tillemann, an advisory board member, is responsible for introducing Nazareth to BitFury, according to Vavilov.
Vavilov continued, saying,
“We were lucky enough to have Annette attend and speak at our annual Blockchain Summit in Morocco this past summer, where she joined other regulatory and legislative experts to discuss how institutions can be re-imagined to take advantage of new technologies.”
Along with these additions, BitFury has been quite active. They released a new mining chip two months ago, and also developed a coffee machine that links to the Lightning network.
