The cryptocurrency critic Elizabeth Warren is now getting prepared for a presidential race for 2020. She announced on Monday that she will be working with an exploratory committee in order to raise funds for the campaign. This committee will allow her to make staff appointments before the presidential campaign starts.
The Democratic Senator Warren has usually criticized corporations, banks and also virtual currencies. She has also released a video in which she attacks Wall Street saying that it appointed politicians to take care of their interests.
In a recent video uploaded by Warren, she commented:
“America’s middle class is under attack. How did we get here? Billionaires and big corporations decided they wanted more of the pie and they enlisted politicians to cut them a fatter slice.”
The Democratic campaign is already starting and there are several candidates interested in reaching the Oval Office. Some of those figures are the former Vice President Joe Biden and Senator Bernie Sanders. Although they did not announce their participation in the elections they might do it very soon.
Warren seems to be far from cryptocurrencies and Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs). In the past, she said that Bitcoin and other virtual currencies could be potentially harmful to American families that place their savings into the market. Virtual currencies tend to be very volatile and experience swings of 20% or more in just a few hours.
Furthermore, she said that cryptocurrencies are very easy to steal and that investors have been scammed by Initial Coin Offerings and other digital assets. She said this at a hearing of the Senate Committee on Banking.
However, she said that there is an important challenge on how to leverage the positive things about virtual currencies protecting investors and users.
