Binance CEO Turns Down Justin Sun’s Offer to Join $4.5M Lunch with Warren Buffett
After a mysterious week filled with teasers, the TRON CEO revealed that he won a lunch with the legendary Warren Buffet. As part of his winning $4.5 million bid for a lunch, Justin Sun can invite seven guests to accompany him. His preliminary picks were Litecoin’s Charlie Lee, Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin, and Changpeng Zhao (CZ) of Binance.
As we reported, Sun won the lunch in an auction towards the GLIDE charity. He revealed through Twitter that he placed a bid of $4.57 million to lunch with crypto-basher Warren Buffett. That news sent the price of TRON and BitTorrent flying off the blocks.
However, it now seems like the stunt is paying dividends in publicity. Sun’s win was covered by Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and an interview with CNBC. Justin previously alluded that he would invite some cryptocurrency industry leaders to join him.
The TRON CEO set up a ‘dream team’ that would convince the major crypto critic to change his mind about the nascent industry. He said:
“I want to bring seven leaders of the blockchain industry to communicate with Warren Buffett about blockchain technology and the opportunity behind it.”
Now, it seems like his Crypto Avengers will be short of one hero. Changpeng Zhao turned down the offer of attending the $4.5 million lunch.
Why is CZ is Not Attending?Warren Buffett has been a long time crypto critic who at one time called virtual currencies ‘rat poison squared.’ The whole crypto space went wild on social media against Buffett saying that his remarks were a big humiliation to the crypto community.
However, one of the powerful crypto soldiers held back his emotions and remained silent. He was Changpeng Zhao, the CEO of Binance. Zhao is believed to have been waiting for the right moment to give it back to Buffett.
The world has given Zhao the opportunity that he has been patiently waiting for. The opportunity was great and Zhao made a perfect move. He declined the invitation by Sun and apologized citing that the meeting was ‘too far.’ He suggested invitation of Anthony Pompliano to the power lunch.
Zhao’s next tweet was a killer. He said that Buffett will be eating ‘rat poison.’ He was making a ruthless reference to Buffett’s harsh remarks made weeks ago. He also said that even if cryptocurrency entrepreneurs buy him lunch for the next 10 years, it would just be $50 million, a potentially decent sized ICO.
I guess Buffet will be eating a lunch funded by "rat poison" after all, lol.
Further, what if crypto entrepreneurs buy him lunch for the next 10 years? $50m at net present value, a decent sized ICO, lol… Well, careful what you wish for.

Zhao also made a sarcastic remark that famous people make others pay millions of dollars to educate them. He made these remarks referring that Sun, who paid the auction money, would educate Warren Buffett about virtual currencies. In conclusion, CZ congratulated TRON founder for his efforts of pushing for massive crypto adoption.
Warren Buffett is WaitingWhile the Crypto Twitter community was busy bashing their greatest arch-enemy, Buffett is not worried by the tirade. It is quite the opposite as this quote from Reuters demonstrates:
“I’m delighted with the fact that Justin has won the lunch and am looking forward to meeting him and his friends. We are going to have a good time and Glide will use his contribution to help many thousands of people.”
For now, the world waits to see what Buffett thinks about cryptos and blockchain after the shelling stops. Nobody expects much to change after this meeting. Warren Buffett is not likely to invest in TRX, BTC, or any other cryptocurrency.
Normally, people would pay to learn some investment skills from Buffett. However, it seems like Justin Sun is trying to flip the rules and attempt to enlighten the ancient billionaire about cryptocurrencies.
