Blockchain Gaming Industry Progresses As Non-Fungible Tokens Prepare To Launch on PlayStation 4
Blockchain technology has been introduced to multiple use cases in the industry, especially with gaming. Though progress has been slow and steady, they are making massive headway this week with their non-fungible tokens (NFTs). According to the writers at SludgeFeed, NFTs will soon be available with PlayStation 4.
There is a new game in the works by Arcade Distillery, a developer that is known for bringing software programs to big names in the industry, like Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Their new game is being called Plague Hunters, which features a single-player-focused setup with RPG and turn-based strategy. It is meant to be a sequel to Plague Road.
The game will cost nothing to pay, and there will be an opportunity for P2P transactions. It has already been reviewed and approved by Sony and follows the terms and conditions of PlayStation. Much like other blockchain games, it will link the units, weapons, and other items to NFTs.
On the Plague Hunters page on the Arcade Distillery website, the description says,
“Build your army of hunters. Train them and prepare them or battle. Trade your hunters on the blockchain-based marketplace with other players.”
The release of the new Plague Hunters game is planned for the first quarter of 2019, though there are versions available for Nintendo Switch PC. In the future, there could also be versions available for Xbox One and mobile platforms.
