Apple’s WWDC Conference: A Look at Upcoming Updates Everyone Expected
Today we are going to see a new presentation from Apple at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Jose. Apple is not going to announce a new iPhone but they will present a new generation of devices and software.
The key focus will be placed on upgraded Apple Watch, which became more independent, iPad that could substitute laptop and probably on the new Mac. The conference is expected to be exciting as Apple has a lot of things to share. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives noted:
“This year WWDC will have a different feel as Apple needs to prove with its next iOS, currently codenamed Yukon, that this platform has the speed, scalability, and feature functionality to smoothly support and lay the groundwork for the company’s flagship video streaming service slated for the fall.”
Apple’s New Application StrategyThe new strategy of the company is supposed to unify Apple’s app ecosystem. It means that a single version of app will be able to work on all the Apple devices. Steven Troughton-Smith, developer, underlined:
“The transition might not be finished for a couple of years, but this is the strongest push Apple has made toward the unification of its two platforms. Apple and developers can put more effort into one version of things instead of having to build everything twice.”
Last year the company already made a step forward toward the unification between iPhone and Mac. Among the apps that can easily run on both devices, are News and Memos. However, developers still have doubts about the future merger. They are worried that if two platforms became closer, the apps will be developed first for iPhone and only then for Mac.
iOS 13 New FeaturesThe new iOS that is used by iPhone and iPad will be full of new features. The most exciting will be a dark mode that can transform the interface from white into black. In addition, Apple also improved one-handed keyboard and a number of applications like Mail, Health, and iMessage.
The new operating system will be finally available for all the users this autumn, meanwhile, beta-version will appear later in summer.
Apple Watch and iPad: What to ExpectAlthough Apple anchored hops on the great success of Watch launched in 2015, it didn’t gain as much popularity as iPhone. Now the company is trying to separate the Watch from the iPhone in order to make it more independent. They added on-board App store and some new applications like calculator, voice recorder and new features for messages.
As for the iPad, Apple has tried to improve the software, so it will be able to replace laptops. More than that, they are also planning to make it possible to use iPad as a second screen.
iTunes FarewelliTunes was helping Apple users to listen to music, watch TV and Podcasts for almost 20 years. However, Apple decided to create 3 new applications: Music, TV, and Podcasts. From now on customers will manage their devices without iTunes but with the help of Music app.
Apple StockJust recently, Apple topped Forbes’ annual list of the world’s most valuable brand. Brand’s valuation added 12% over last year and, even most important, that’s the first time Apple crossed the $200 billion threshold.
Unfortunately, everything is not so bluesky as one might think, as China-US trade war fears occupy the heads of WS investors. Indeed, Apple has rather tough sale times, and AAPL shares experienced massive pullback losing 16% in May only. At the press moment, AAPL makes $175 per share showing a 24h decline of 1.8%.
