During his most recent appearance on Let’s Talk Bitcoin Podcast, crypto enthusiast and advocate ‘Andreas M. Antonopoulos’ spoke at length about a host of different topics related to this burgeoning field— including the future of Bitcoin and how the asset should ideally be used for “fostering national economies rather than building companies”.
Additionally, during the course of the above stated podcast, Andreas along with Stephanie Murphy, and Adam B. Levine spoke about “Code is Law vs. Political decision-making”. On the matter, Antonopoulos went on record to state:
“The reason Bitcoin is, and has been, and continues to be conservatively developed is because its area of specialization is super robust, super secure, super deterministic, sound money, and operating in highly adversarial environments where you can’t expect the goodwill and cooperation of anyone.”
Following this, the discussion moved towards how the native infrastructures of different blockchain platforms differed from one another.
Antonopoulos stated that in order for a blockchain ecosystem to be “truly neutral”, it needed to satisfy a host of niche’ criterion related to transparency and functionality.
Bitcoin and Ethereum are the Alpha’s of the Altcoin MarketEven though Antonopoulos believes that the future will see most major crypto assets proliferate into a host of different currencies, he is quite sure that none of these offerings will be able to rival Bitcoin or Ethereum.
This is because, BTC and ETH already possess highly developed ecosystems that come laden with a host of novel applications and operational protocols. He further exclaimed:
“Bitcoin is not something you build companies on top of. Bitcoin is something you build economies on top of.”
Lastly, he went on to add that ‘scaling and privacy’ were the two major issues that most crypto ecosystems had yet to address satisfactorily (since these problems were currently keeping a host of institutional/moneyed players from entering this burgeoning market domain.)
Final TakeIn rounding out his appearance on the Let’s Talk Bitcoin Podcast, Antonopoulos exclaimed that while he did not know what the future had in store for the altcoin industry at large, he did add that the uncertainty itself was what made this space “soo exciting”.
He closed out his interview by saying:
“I don't know what the future holds for crypto but one thing I do know is that the coming weeks and months won't be boring for sure”.
