Ancient8, a gaming-focused community-driven Ethereum layer 2 built to onboard millions of gamers to Web3 gaming, has just announced that it has secured a major grant from the Optimism Governance Fund.

The funding follows Ancient8’s partnership with Optimism, which aims to help the project achieve its mission of transforming on-chain gaming while supporting game developers.

According to the announcement, Ancient8 will leverage the interoperability offered by the Superchain to help it accelerate the process of establishing a solid, innovative ecosystem of developers, gamers, and creators.

While Ancient8 Layer2 chain is built on the Superchain, the project is fully integrated with Optimism’s infrastructure and well-positioned to leverage its powerful ecosystem.

Following this collaboration, Ancient8 and Optimism will work together to create scalable, decentralized, and user-friendly solutions. 

The governance grant provided by Optimism aims to empower existing projects, incentivize new builders, and foster community and culture. 

To achieve its aim of empowering builders, the funds will be used to provide resources to enhance the quality and scalability of projects already built on Ancient8 Layer 2. 

Also, the project will utilize the funds to enable access to up-to-date technologies in the industry, like Account Abstraction, AI-driven tools, and Superchain interoperability. It will also drive sustainable development through optimized product shipping and distribution pipelines.

Moreso, the funds will be used to attract major IPs and fresh projects to the Superchain by offering tailored support and incentives. Ancient8 also plans to use the funds to strengthen user engagement with online and offline events, such as hackathons, meetups, and tournaments.

Ancient8 acknowledges the grant as a key step toward advancing the vision it has been working on from the start. Collaborating with Optimism and the Superchain will strengthen the Web3 gaming ecosystem and foster greater adoption.

Per the announcement, Ancient8 has revealed plans for the coming months, focusing on empowering developers, expanding the Ancient8 ecosystem, and strengthening collaboration across the Superchain. 

While it is on the move to empower builders and attract millions of web3 users, Ancient8 has disclosed plans to host a web3 Hackathon.

The Ancient8 Builder Jam Hackathon aims to empower innovators, builders, and entrepreneurs to turn bold ideas into reality, offering prizes of up to $400,000. 

The event will see Ancient8 collaborate with Kyros Ventures, ZKP Labs, and Orochi Network to shape the future of Web3 gaming jointly.

Nonetheless, Ancient8 is relentlessly working to amplify efforts to onboard millions of gamers and builders into Web3 while fostering a vibrant and innovative gaming ecosystem, all thanks to the Optimism governance grant.
