AMD is known for their technology, primarily acting as a semiconductor manufacturer. They are known in the crypto industry for their mining technology, and they recently made those efforts clear by partnering with seven major tech companies. As a result, AMD is launching eight new mining rigs for the crypto market.
The new list of miners, which can be found in an article on AMD’s website called “AMD and Blockchain Technology,” shows that they partnered with Sapphire, ASROCK, ASUS, MSI, Biostar, TUL and Rajintek. Each of the eight rigs that came out of this collaboration have “ultimate stability,” “24/7 performance,” and “enterprise-level quality.” Pricing for the rigs has yet to become public.
AMD aims for these partnerships to make it possible to establish new “blockchain compute solutions,” which will help with the advancement of “innovative blockchain platforms.”
Surprisingly, in the entire article, cryptocurrency only comes up twice, referencing it as the “most well-known case” of using this technology. The only other place it is mentioned is in a title of a section called “Blockchain Beyond Cryptocurrency.”
Bringing more publicity to the hardware, AMD published a video on YouTube to elaborate on blockchain.
The video informs the public of the main features of blockchain technology, noting that the security and trust it offers are the main benefits.
Just a week ago, the financial report for AMD’s third quarter was published for investors to view. The report noted that the sales for GPU decided were “negligible,” noting also that the price had gone down in an effort to elicit sales during this time.
Reports through the years, both with CoinTelegraph and others, has indicated that AMD has not always been in support of blockchain technology. Lisa Su, the CEO of AMD, commented in April that it was a “very important technology,” with a lot of potential. However, she also called it a “bit of a distraction” at the time.
With the current support and supply of information about blockchain technology now, it could be safe to say that they have changed their views.
