Blockchain technology has massive potential to change the way we store, use, and access data, but it hit a problem when it comes to importing real-world data onto the blockchain. This is an issue that Chainlink (LINK/USD) managed to solve via its oracle network, which has made it one of the projects with the biggest potential in the blockchain industry.

The company is now sought after by every other business that wishes to harness the power of blockchain and enrich it with data for the purpose of bringing new features to its ecosystem. One good example of this is the weather information provider AccuWeather, which just announced yesterday that it is launching a Chainlink node in order to put its weather APIs into blockchain’s smart contracts.

How can AccuWeather contribute to the blockchain sector?

As some may know, AccuWeather APIs contain weather information, such as wind speed, temperature, natural disaster classifications, precipitation, and more. As such, there are several use cases that AccuWeather-powered smart contracts could offer, such as NFTs that can change with the weather forecasts, but also weather prediction markets, and even automatic supply chain shifts, where the shifts are based on the weather conditions.

AccuWeather’s Chief Product Officer, Kurt Fulepp, stated that the company is one of the first weather-related data products to join Chainlink. As such, it is thrilled to expand its rhea and bring value to the ever-growing blockchain market.

Including companies like AccuWeather could bring great new ways to use the blockchain for everyday life, as mentioned. There are likely many more ways that accurate weather predictions could help businesses and society in general that have yet to be revealed, and now that AccuWeather is joining the blockchain industry, it will be free to explore these possibilities, alongside professional developers who may already have ideas on how to apply it.

Blockchain use cases continue to be discovered almost on a daily basis, and there is no telling how deep these discoveries could go in years to come.
