Future NBA Hall-of-Famer, Steph Curry, has signed a deal with FTX to become the exchange’s new Global Ambassador. 

FTX has announced that the company has signed a long-term partnership with NBA superstar Steph Curry. The deal sees the three-time champ sign on as FTX’s new Global Ambassador. Additionally, Curry will receive an equity stake in FTX Trading Limited and his charitable foundation, Eat.Learn.Play will partner on charitable initiatives. 

According to the official announcement, Curry said that he was “excited to partner with a company that demystifies the crypto space and eliminates the intimidation factor for first-time users.” The two-time NBA MVP added that “FTX is like-minded when it comes to giving back to the community in meaningful ways, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”

FTX has been busy snatching up high-profile athletes to partner with such as Tom Brady and Trevor Lawrence. The move marks the first crypto partnership from Curry as he looks towards retirement. 

On top of the partnerships FTX has signed with athletes, the company also recently purchased naming rights to a new football stadium. The stadium to be named is the UC Berkley Football Stadium, home of Cal Berkley’s Golden Bears. The deal is reportedly worth $17.5 million, is good for ten years, and allows FTX to retain a few personal connections with the stadium along with the rights to naming it. The connections pertain to former players, including FTX COO Sina Nader who played for the Golden Bears as a walk-on. Bankman-Fried’s father was also an alumnus of the school. 

As part of the collaboration with the Eat.Learn.Play. Foundation, FTX has committed to providing contributions as Step and Ayesha Curry look to unlock the potential of all kids. The non-profit focuses on fighting childhood hunger and giving access to quality education and safe places to exercise. So far the charity has provided 17 million meals to kids in Oakland and their families.
