Ripple has been in the limelight this year following several updates and partnerships from the company’s side. One main highlight was Ripple’s report explaining their partnership with over 200 companies, a commendable feat from the point of view of a cryptocurrency company. Ripple’s push towards mass adoption was given a boost by comments made by its Chief Technology Officer, David Schwartz.
In a recent Quora post, Schwartz talked about the use-cases of XRP that he was most excited about. He started by stating,
“Obviously, I’m most excited about cross-currency payments. But that’s far from the only thing XRP can be used for.”
The CTO, known as Ripple’s trillion dollar man, also spoke about Coil’s usage of XRP and the Interledger Protocol to make ‘hundreds of millions of tiny payments to content providers.’ He was of the opinion that XRP would facilitate quick payments to content creators as the creators supply content to Coil’s customers. According to him, one of the biggest benefits of Coil’s payment methods was that the creators did not need to have a formal relationship with Coil. He said,
“They [Creators] just specify in the content where they want to receive payment and Coil, or any other web monetization provider using ILP, can pay them.”
The computer revealed that through Xpring, Ripple has had conversations with many other groups working with XRP and creating projects out of it. These projects ranged from cryptocurrency wallets to gaming and liquidity providers.
Schwartz further spoke about the XRP Ledger and the add-ons he had integrated into the ledger. The CTO said,
“Personally, I’m very excited about the prospect of seeing some of the specific features that Arthur and I built into the XRP Ledger seeing real use. Not only does the XRP Ledger have a decentralized exchanged with order books and automatic pathfinding for complex payments, it has peer-to-peer community credit features as well.”
The Ripple CTO also elucidated on new XRPL features, stating that the features of the account-based design distinguished it from other cryptocurrency designs like Bitcoin. One of the key features pointed out by Schwartz included the one that allows users to change an account’s credentials, without tampering with the receiving address.
