Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder and CEO of Binance, one of the largest virtual currency exchanges in the market, has been accused of searching biased coverage. During an interview with Techonomy, the Chief Market Strategist of Ripple, Cory Johnson, implied that CZ might search for a biased approach at the time of covering some crypto-related topics.
During the interview, he talked about the cryptocurrency world and how Facebook is working with distributed ledger technology (DLT). He then said that there is a lot of bias in the industry because there is a lot of people that invested in the crypto market. One of these individuals is Changpeng Zhao according to Mr Johnson.
He said that CZ stated that he will not be giving interviews to individuals that do not own cryptocurrencies. Johnson suggested that the CEO of Binance might be searching for a better treatment from the industry.
About this, he commented:
“So a lot of journalists who write about blockchain full-time, own Bitcoin. Or they own Ether. Or they own XRP. And they see everything else that they are writing about as in some way a threat.”
He has also talked about the excitement generated by virtual currencies and blockchain technology. According to Johnson, when Bitcoin was invented and they put a price on it, people started to be interested in this virtual currency. However, he mentioned that the interest in Bitcoin’s price is ahead of the development of the crypto space.
This is why there is a sort of bias in the space and why he thinks that there are specific individuals that are searching for a biased opinion or coverage.
Binance is the largest exchange in the market in terms of trading volume. According to CoinMarketCap, in the last 24 hours, Binance handled $754 million dollars of trades.
