KuCoin, a leading cryptocurrency exchange and trading platform, has officially unveiled its highly anticipated NFT launch platform KuCoin IGO.
Announced last week, KuCoin IGO went live on 8 April, with the platform’s first project being Pikaster.
The launch allows KuCoin to venture into the Initial Gaming Offerings space, with its eyes on fueling growth within the global blockchain gaming sector. The platform will also play a huge role in KuCoin’s ambition to advance metaverse and Web3 projects via early support.
KuCoin CEO Johnny Lyu noted in a statement that the metaverse’s attraction of tech giants like Meta, Amazon, and Tencent is a big indicator of the potential for massive developments and unique experiences. And he believes blockchain gaming and non-fungible tokens could be the entry points into the metaverse.
GameFi and NFT will be the most typical entrances to the metaverse, which is a big reason why KuCoin launched the IGO platform. We hope to empower the development of web3.0 through KuCoin’s IGO, to dig more good GameFi projects and NFTs, and help the entire industry’s development.”
KuCoin IGO for users and developersAn IGO, like in the case of initial coin offerings (ICOs), offers a chance for teams to raise funds to support projects, in this case, blockchain gaming ventures. As well as an opportunity to get crypto tokens, participants in the IGO benefit from additional bits such as early access to an in-game asset.
With the launch of its platform, KuCoin is looking to offer its users across the world an opportunity to participate in projects in return for exclusive in-game NFTs. KuCoin users now also have a platform from which they can buy, trade and withdraw NFT assets, the exchange said in a recent press release.
Game developers can use KuCoin IGO to explore the different ways they can launch their games. Apart from flat-rate sales, developers can opt for auctions or go for mystery boxes.
Pikaster launches, to offer 18,000 NFTsThe first project to launch via KuCoin IGO is Pikaster, a card-battle game that’s also a community-driven metaverse. Players can earn from the game via NFTs due to its Truly-play Truly-earn GameFi model.
The project, founded in 2021 and created by Metaland, aims to offer metaverse lovers access to a range of products, including games, entertainment, and sports.
According to Pikaster, participants in its IGO have a chance to get original Pikaster NFTs. There will also be Evolved NFTs with KuCoin for grabs in an auction.
The project has 18,000 Original NFTs set for sale on the KuCoin NFT platform. Users will have a chance to acquire these in two rounds, with both rounds accessible to whitelisted individuals only.
There will be 3,000 NFTs in the first round and 15,000 NFTs in the second round. The first sale will take place on 11 April at 12:00 UTC, with each NFT priced at 30 USDT. Round 2 sales will occur on 15 April at 12:00 UTC and see each NFT priced at 60 USDT.
