Here’s why Ethereum 2.0’s July launch may be a “sell the news” opportunity

The highly anticipated launch of Ethereum 2. 0 may be coming sooner than previously expected, as one platform is noting that it could come about as early as July of this year. This transition will help Ethereum move to a Proof-of-Stake model that allows entities with over 32 ETH to become network validators in exchange for […] The post Here’s why Ethereum 2. дальше »

Ethereum 2.0 on the Right Path as Number of Hodlers Accelerate

The Ethereum network is experiencing a high increase of potential ETH validators in anticipation of Ethereum 2.0, an evolution that will abandon the typical PoW algorithm of blockchains such as Bitcoin and Litecoin in favor of PoS, offering a new consensus mechanism that will reduce the network complexity, making it possible to execute faster and […] дальше »

Ripple’s validator drama continues as community members huddle up to find an alternative

Ripple is very closely related to XRP, something which is a well-known fact. There is a blurred line between Ripple and XRP for some people; but for supporters, there is a clear demarcation. However, XRP network also relies strongly on Ripple running validators and in recent days, some XRP community members have brought up hypothetical […] The post Ripple’s validator drama continues as community members huddle up to find an alternative appeared first on AMBCrypto. дальше »

Op Ed: With Bitcoin, Anarchy Is the Point, Not the Problem

Last week, there was a panel at SXSW that was effectively a debate on the merits of permissioned blockchains versus permissionless systems like Bitcoin. I listened to the entire audio of the panel discussion, after Programming Bitcoin author Jimmy Song tweeted it out the other day, and I thought he did an awesome job of pointing out the key value proposition of Bitcoin and why it is not worth comparing to permissioned systems. дальше »

A Guide to 99% Fault Tolerant Consensus

Special thanks to Emin Gun Sirer for review We’ve heard for a long time that it’s possible to achieve consensus with 50% fault tolerance in a synchronous network where messages broadcasted by any honest node are guaranteed to be received by all other honest nodes within some known time period (if an attacker has more than 50%, they can perform a “51% attack”, and there’s an analogue of this for any algorithm of this type). дальше »

Governance, Part 2: Plutocracy Is Still Bad

Coin holder voting, both for governance of technical features, and for more extensive use cases like deciding who runs validator nodes and who receives money from development bounty funds, is unfortunately continuing to be popular, and so it seems worthwhile for me to write another post explaining why I (and Vlad Zamfir and others) do not consider it wise for Ethereum (or really, any base-layer blockchain) to start adopting these kinds of mechanisms in a tightly coupled form in any significant way. дальше »

Notes on Blockchain Governance

In which I argue that “tightly coupled” on-chain voting is overrated, the status quo of “informal governance” as practiced by Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Zcash and similar systems is much less bad than commonly thought, that people who think that the purpose of blockchains is to completely expunge soft mushy human intuitions and feelings in favor of completely algorithmic governance (emphasis on “completely”) are absolutely crazy, and loosely coupled voting as done by Carbonvotes and similar systems is underrated, as well as describe what framework should be used when thinking about blockchain governance in the first place. дальше »
