Hedera Hashgraph Launches An Early Access Program To Its Mainnet

The next-generation public ledger specifically designed to have highly diversified governance has launched the launch of its initial community testing program. The information was released by the company in a blog post on December 18.

With this new phase of he program developers will have the possibility to test the mainnet and testnets. In order to increase the number of participants and reward those interested users, the company will allow developers to earn 1,000 hbars, the native currency for the Hedera platform.

It is now possible to test a content site, The Daily Timestamp and a micropayment Chrome extension. Furthermore, interested developers can gain access to different testnets and begin building applications on top of it.

The company aims at creating a more trusted and secure future in the space. This will be made possible with the development of new trusted applications. That includes creating services for people to work together, buy and sell goods and services and more.

According to the co-founder and Chief Scientist of Hedera, Dr. Leemon Baird, several events have increased the concerns of the population over their privacy and how companies handle their data.

Dr. Baird commented about it:

“Events over the past few years have made it clear that consumers have great concerns about their data privacy, such as when reading articles or viewing videos that require them to reveal personal credit card information or be flooded with ads and have their online behaviour tracked.”

He went on explaining that with the new mainnet it will be possible to start delivering Hedera’s vision of the internet. In this way, people and individuals will have more possibilities to control their data.

There are many members of the community that are ready to start testing the mainnet, explained Mance Harmon, the co-founder and CEO of Hedera. Users will be able to experience the freedom of data ownership and the benefits of micropayments.
