As you may know, the popular chat platform Kik expanded into cryptocurrencies earlier this year with the funding of 40 different blockchain projects under it’s “Kin” asset. The project received some positive news on Tuesday, as it has now brought on Matthew DiPietro as a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), according to a press release. DiPietro was formerly senior vice president of marketing over at Amazon’s Twitch streaming platform. With Kin, the new CMO will focus mainly on handling brand strategy and marketing for both the main platform and for projects participating in the Kin Developer Program.
Founder of both Kik and Kin, Ted Livingston, commented on the hire:
“Educating developers on the benefits of cryptocurrency and its potential use cases in everyday life is crucial to Kin’s success. Matt’s previous experience at Twitch, where he defined a new industry and helped drive mainstream adoption of live streaming, is a perfect fit as we work towards making Kin the most used cryptocurrency in the world.”

Nearly A Decade of ExperienceDiPietro has worked with Twitch for eight years. During that time, the former head oversaw the launch of the current branding, was a part of every marketing plan, and even launched TwitchCon—an annual convention attended by content creators and their fans.
Twitch initially hired DiPietro as the only marketing team member. During his time, he expanded the team to over 40 employees in departments including communications, branding, content marketing, events, and creative services.
Kin’s goal is one shared by many cryptocurrencies – to be the “world’s most used cryptocurrency”.
According to DiPietro:
“We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive adoption of a transformative technology that can fundamentally change the relationship between consumers and developers. I’m looking forward to creating and executing a marketing strategy that helps make that happen.”
Kin has recently launched its Kinit Beta application, which is the first Kin-associated app available to the public.
