The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) is hosting a virtual FinCEN Innovation Hours Program on September 9, 2021.
The focus of the program is on “privacy-preserving principles in developing technical solutions that enhance financial services innovation while countering illicit activity and national security risks that undermine the integrity and opportunity of the U.S. financial system,” reads the official announcement.
It asks companies that are developing solutions to privacy issues, including homomorphic encryption, zero-knowledge proofs, to join the program.
While “encouraging participation,” the government agency requests for the demonstrations to highlight how these solutions work and how retailers and financial institutions might use them.
Interested companies need to submit a request online by July 23, 2021. During the event, each meeting will last at most an hour. Acting Director Michael Mosier said,
“We support responsible innovation, especially that which promotes the resilience and safety of our financial system and the American people.”
