Ripple is based out of San Francisco and is well known for its fast payment transactions with low fees. Recently, they decided to make some staffing changes, with the most notable difference being Kahina Van Dyke. Van Dyke previously worked with Facebook as a global payments director, and she held positions with Mastercard and Citibank. Now, she will now be serving as the Senior Vice President of Business and Corporate development with Ripple.

The new hire coincides with the current campaign to help usher in the use of the XRP token from Ripple into the rest of the financial world. They presently offer cross-border payments, which has been highlighted in recent news.

The company posted a blog to announce the hire, which said,

“Ripple is thrilled to have Kahina Van Dyke join our leadership team as the new senior vice president of business and corporate development. With more than 20 years of experience in banking and technology, Van Dyke will focus on driving new, strategic partnerships for Ripple across the global financial services industry.”

David Schwartz, who has already been with Ripple for quite some time, has been promoted to CTO, replacing former CTO Stefan Thomas. In a statement regarding Ripple, Schwartz said,

“Building a global network of financial institutions who are using blockchain-based solutions is no small task, but we have the technical folks at Ripple to make it a reality. We’re also going to hire a lot more of them.”

Schwartz’s team will be working to continually decentralize the XRP Ledger, which is the record of all of the tokens’ transactions.

CEO Brad Garlinghouse, highlighted how important both Van Dyke and Schwartz are to the company, and their continued success in the industry, showing his support.

“David and Kahina exemplify success. At every step in their careers, they have shown the type of leadership qualities and business prowess that will be instrumental as Ripple continues to grow. This is a fantastic duo that showcases the two sides of Ripple. David is a world-renowned leader in the blockchain and digital asset world, and Kahina is a seasoned veteran in the traditional banking and financial services industries,”

he said.

Along with her new role with Ripple, sources say that Van Dyke already holds positions as a board director for Progressive Insurance.
