Elon Musk Teases New Crypto Service
The entrepreneur who founded SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, has recently hinted the existence of a new Bitcoin-focused service that has some relation with anime. Some time ago, Musk tweeted “I love anime” and, in the thread, he tweeted “wanna buy some bitcoin” later, with an anime image with the Bitcoin logo.
These two tweets, which were made yesterday, October 22, around 22:30 and 23:00 UTC, have sparked some rumors around that Musk might be starting a service that would unite anime and Bitcoin. The images used came from Cryptocurrency Girls, which has turned the most famous cryptos into anime characters.
Musk’s thread was very popular and it sparked an immediate reaction on social media with over 110,000 retweets and 334,000 likes on the original “I love anime” tweet. The message got so famous so fast that Twitter has even decided to lock Musk’s account as they thought he was hacked.
As Musk has been frequently impersonated by scammers, that makes a lot of sense. Many people use accounts that just look like his to promote fake giveaways and steal money from crypto users, sometimes even via sponsored tweets.
Some people believed that Musk was poking fun at the scammers while others think that the whole thing is a publicity stunt aimed to get more attention to him as he will launch another product. At the moment, though, it is still hard to know as Musk has not officially affirmed anything.
Famous Crypto Figures Comment On The EventSome people have been commenting on the event. One of them is the CEO of Binance, the largest exchange by volume in the market. Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has tweeted that he would “Buy Tesla” if cryptos were accepted.
Another personality of the industry, Dovey Wan, the founder of Primitive Ventures, which also worked at Danhua Venture Capital, has also tweeted that she was taking Elon Musk off her “most bankable twitter accounts”.
