Cosmos has released a new software development kit (SDK) called Stargate, a major milestone towards building the network’s “internet of blockchains.”
Stargate Ushers in Interoperable EraThe Stargate launch enables different application-specific blockchains to operate with one other to share data and tokens. Developers can use the accompanying developer kit to deploy decentralized applications that will work across blockchains built using the Cosmos SDK.
Multiple teams tested Stargate before the launch, including Regen Network, Interchain Foundation, Iqlusion, Agoric, Informal Systems, and Tendermint, to name a few.
Apart from enabling interoperability features, the release improves network efficiency, including faster full node sync and node upgrades.
Another update in Cosmos SDK is the introduction of “protocol buffers,” Google’s data serialization standard that makes it easy to use data across various streams and programming languages.
The network’s native token, ATOM, enjoyed a 4.3% boost on the news in the last 24 hours. It’s currently trading hands at $6.69.
Disclosure: At the time of writing, this author held Cosmos (ATOM).
