Chromia, an innovative blockchain platform cofounded by Henrik Hjelte, Or Perelman, and Alex Mizrahi, has announced today plans to officially launch its mainnet in 2024, unveiling a groundbreaking ‘relational blockchain’ architecture.
Birthed by the Swedish-based company ChromaWay, Chromia aspires to blend the efficiency of relational databases with the secure, permissionless attributes of blockchain technology.
Per the announcement, Chromia’s evolution goes beyond its initial role, now embracing interoperability with Ethereum and other EVM chains. The project’s updated roadmap reveals a comprehensive plan, highlighting key features that position Chromia as a leader in the decentralized applications space.
Henrik Hjelte, the CEO of Chromia, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “It took us, founders, 10 years to build the technology we believe can make an impact on the world at large. Chromia’s mainnet is poised to launch with powerful features encompassing modularity, EVM interoperability, relational database architecture, and on-chain file storage.”
Furthermore, the development journey included the creation of user-centric experiences like Web3 gaming with titles such as “My Neighbour Alice” and “Mines of Dalarnia.” These endeavours solidify Chromia’s commitment to user engagement with established tokenomics and substantial user bases.
The project’s roadmap lays out future milestones, emphasizing Chromia-based tokens, asset bridging from EVM chains, and the implementation of a native fee system. Equally noteworthy is the focus on end-user and developer utilities, including an official wallet, a block explorer, and comprehensive technical documentation.
Chromia’s ecosystem is already showing signs of growth through its ‘Shared Appnet,’ an early production environment for decentralized applications (dApps). Notable projects within this environment include a digital collectibles marketplace from German football club VfB Stuttgart and BLK DNM’s ‘Connected Fashion’ technology.
