Bitfinex, one of the most popular cryptocurrency exchanges, is bringing a trustless blockchain exchange to the world known as EOSfinex. Developed with the help of EOSIO dApp technology, the platform will combine scalability with Bitfinex’s expertise to revolutionize crypto trade platforms. Bitfinex’s Kasper Rasmussen discussed the details of this project in a Medium post on Friday.
What Is EOSfinex dApp?According to Rasmussen, the dApp is:
“[T]he first high-performance, a trustless trading platform to be built on EOSIO technology. EOSfinex will combine the scalability and speed of EOSIO with the expertise accrued at Bitfinex to provide the space with an on-chain exchange experience based on the instantaneous, transparent and trustless trading of digital assets.”
He further stated that the platform had been designed to foster innovation within EOS and to help in research and better adoption of Block.one’s (EOS publisher) technology, which is focused on scalability and security of the network. He also said that an exchange platform could further help in battle-testing the EOS blockchain because of the need for stringent security and speedy transactions in high volumes.
Bitfinex was one of the early supporters of this blockchain network, and Rasmussen believes that EOSfinex has the potential to change how value is exchanged between parties from the ground up. Though the team developing the EOSfinex dApp is small, he thinks that the agile and versatile team members will help in furthering their mission of creating an open source decentralized digital asset space. They could be looking into new hires in a variety of roles, and “anyone who’s passionate about EOS” is welcome.
Where Is EOSfinex Headed?Rasmussen clarified that the project is near the completion of its initial development stage, and a public demonstration of the same was done during a Bitfinex hackathon in London. The team has already made three essential EOSfinex components available to participants, the SunBeam EOSfinex Node.js library, the Nodeos plugin and the EOSfinex exchange smart contract.
Of these, SunBeam is already available as an open source project on GitHub, and developers can start working on it as they deem fit. Rasmussen further emphasized that Bitfinex is focused on pushing high performance, noncustodial and trustless projects that are a part of EOS’s foundation, making it a natural fit for their goals.
