In a recent Twitter post, Roger Ver has made an interesting comparison between those that support a specific currency (coinism) and nationalism.

The cryptocurrency market is plagued of individuals and crypto supporters that defend just one single coin. They are usually praising how good it is and how bad others are. In general, those supporters of just one coin believe that their asset is the best and that all the other coins are just ‘shitcoin.’

The image that Ver uploaded shows to different groups that fight against each other closely in their own way of thinking. And this is something that he compared with nationalism.

It is important to remember that Bitcoin Cash (BCH) a coin that forked from Bitcoin (BTC) back in 2017, experienced a new hard fork on November 15, 2018. Bitcoin Cash and Bitcoin SV (BSV) were defending two different visions of how to scale the network.

At that time, supporters of both sides were closed on their own positions. Bitcoin ABC supporters attacked Bitcoin SV backers and vice-versa. This did not help both sides to create high-level discussions and started the so-called ‘hash war’ between networks to see which coin would have the longest blockchain.

This is something that can be compared to what happens to some countries. History shows that war is the normal state of the world, with just very short periods of peace among nations. When nationalism surged, wars followed trying to defend just a single way of living and culture. Other cultures and nations were discredited and attacked just for being different.

Nowadays, the crypto market seems to be experiencing something similar and even end in the same way as nations, in wars. If the market wants to grow and prosper, coinism should stop. Conversations between different coin supporters do not seem logical in many cases and it clearly harms the space.

Although Roger Ver seems against it, he has participated many times in unnecessary argues with those that thought in a different way than him and preferred to back other virtual currencies.
