Bit Design and XYO Network are using blockchain technology to give digital items a unique identity, preventing them from being faked – something that’s common in the online world.

Jennifer Perex, a staff at XYO Network, gives a use case of how their project will help solve this using blockchain technology. To drive the point home, she uses an example of a photographer, who captures a magnificent image and uploads it to their website. She says that readers may see the image and create an exact copy of it, using the photo on their blogs or social media accounts without giving credit to the owner. The series continues until the image appears virtually everywhere. This means that it has lost value and practically useless to the photographer.

It’s not just photographs that are susceptible to online theft; even writings and artworks are. The internet has provided people with many avenues to copy digital items and create identical ones. The challenge is to bring uniqueness and scarcity to the objects.
With the blockchain technology, the photographer can prove that they are the owner of the original image, by showing the specific time they took the photo, the exact image captured, and so on.

Bit Design utilized the power of blockchain technology and decentralized data in order to create scarcity of digital items. It is building dApps to create digital objects and link them to their owners and an incentive system to relinquish ownership and more.

According to Kevin Dunnell, the Chief Creative of Bit Design, the project’s team, which include entrepreneurs, designers, and software engineers, wants to connect the physical and digital worlds through elegantly designed apps. XYO Network, on the other hand, is excited to join hands with them to make this a reality.
