The Interchain Foundation is excited to announce that Tess Rinearson has joined the Foundation as a Council member. She is the newest member since the addition of Brian Crain and Fernando Pedone in 2020.
Jae Kwon announced his intention to retire from the position of president of the ICF to focus on engineering activities. Foundation Council member Pascal Schmid has also left his position to focus on new endeavors. The Foundation is grateful to Jae and Pascal for their services and wishes them all the best in their new endeavors. Within the new configuration of Council members Ethan Buchman has been elected President of the Foundation and Brian Crain has been elected Vice President.

Tess leads the team responsible for Tendermint Core, the leading BFT engine for building blockchains. Before diving into Byzantine behavior, Tess was VP of Engineering at Chain (acquired by Stellar), a cryptographic ledger system to make financial services smarter, more secure, and more connected. Tess studied computer science at University of Pennsylvania and Carnegie Mellon University, and left sophomore year when offered an engineering role at the then tech startup Medium. She has collaborated with Girls Who Code to teach about Bitcoin and has taught students from underrepresented backgrounds at MIT Media Lab. She also created a popular Bitcoin explainer guide through emojis.
