A teenager that made bomb threats has been sentenced to a decade in prison. The decision was taken by a Tel Aviv court. The American-Israeli teenager was able to make a fortune in Bitcoin (BTC). The information has been recently revealed by The New York Times.

The prosecutors informed that Micahel Kadar was responsible for over 2,000 bomb hoaxes that took place between 2015 and 2017. Because of doing these threats, he received ‘JCC bomb hoaxer’ as a nickname. His main targets were Jewish Community Centers, hospitals, malls and schools.

He charged between $40 to $500 dollars a threat depending on the target. A private residence cost $40 dollars while a threat to a commercial store cost $500 dollars. In order to offer his services, Kadar worked on the darknet and received payments using Bitcoin. He has been working in the space for a few years, allowing him to make 184 BTC.

There were some students that wanted to have some exams postponed, so he received payments from students. However, the bomb hoaxes were expensive for the community. Police and emergency services had to evacuate pupils and confirm that there was no bomb at the school. In a specific case, a commercial flight had to land escorted by two fighter jets due to the fact that he threatened airports or planes.

The verdict from Judge Zvi Gurfinkel reads as follows:

“One can easily imagine the terror, the fear and the horror that gripped the airplane passengers who were forced to make an emergency landing, some of whom were injured while evacuating the plane and the terrified panic caused when there was a need to evacuate pupils from schools because of fake bomb threats.”

Kadar has affected daily activities in several countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, New Zealand, Ireland, Belgium, Argentina, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and Norway.

In order to capture him, the Israeli Police and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had to work together. Kadar used his parent’s home to perform the crimes with a machine to alter the voice and change his location.

The police found several dollars he possessed but they were not able to get access to his Bitcoin wallet.
